Agar

Agar is a plant-based gelling agent. According to food additive classifications, it is listed as a gelling substance under the code E406.

The word “agar” itself means seaweed. Being a product derived from algae, it naturally contains a wealth of micronutrients, beneficial acids, and iodine, as well as magnesium, iron, and dietary fiber.

One of agar’s key advantages is its wide range of applications — it allows us to create a variety of delightful sweets. With agar, we make incredibly tasty “Sufleu” candies and light “Pasărea măiastră” cakes. The delicate agar-based marmalade not only satisfies any sweet tooth but also provides nutritional benefits — and is a perfect choice for vegetarians and vegans alike.
